Course Overview
Many of our graduates have chosen to become a Pilates Instructor to enhance their passion for fitness, embark on a new career, or supplement their current income.
Prerequisites: We strongly recommend that before commencing your VIVA course you participate in a minimum of 10 Pilates classes. Knowing Pilates in your own body will not only give you an appreciation of the method, it will also help you teach it to your clients. Additionally, you should ensure a good working knowledge of anatomy prior to completing the VIVA Level 1 Matwork Course.
The road to starting your Pilates career starts with us. Our aim is to provide all of our trainees with the resources to become highly skilled, successful Pilates instructors before, during and after training with us.

Assessment & Certification
the exams
On-Course Theory Exam:
Multiple choice, fill-in-the-blank or matching type questions, and muscle identification. Approx 2-3 hours. Results within 10 days.
Practical Exam:
Demonstrate an exercise to your course group at the end of day 4.
Video Submission:
Post Course video submission of 15 Minute Class required.

Logged by watching a VIVA Instructor at any of our locations (free) or at a studio of your choice.
15 Practical Hours:
Self-practice and teaching practice.
Upon successful completion of the exam, students are considered certified instructors from their exam date. 15 CEC Points are allocated to VIVA’s Matwork Level 1 Course.
Course Objectives
- How to apply Pilates principles of core stability, breathing and alignment to all exercises
- A complete breakdown of each exercise
- Exercise goals, muscular initiation and movement sequencing
- Modifications to increase or decrease exercise intensity
- Modifications for specific body types and postural issues
- How to recognize optimal and less than optimal movement patterns
- A variety of programming options to keep clients motivated
- Effective communication, verbal cues and imagery for performance enhancement and client motivation

Upon completion of Matowrk Level 1, students who pass the course will be eligible to interview for instructor positions at VIVA. The road to starting your Pilates career starts with us. We look forward to sharing this journey with you.
Policies
Refund Policy & Cooling Off
VIVA Education gives all students a 7 day cooling off period from receipt of their submitted enrolment form. If the applicant decides to take advantage of the cooling off period any course fees paid will be refunded minus a $150 withdrawal fee.
After the cooling off period no refunds are allowed on course fees paid unless exceptional circumstances (debilitating illness, bereavement) can be substantiated, in which any refund will be considered by management on a case-by-case basis.
Course Date Changes
Changes to course dates are only available 6 weeks prior to a course start date. A flat-rate reschedule fee of $300 applies. There will be no reimbursements or schedule changes able to be made to courses within 6 weeks of the course start date. Full fees will apply.
Absenteeism & Make-up Hours
It is strongly advised that make-up hours are done as soon as possible after they are missed. This is done in private review at the student’s expense ($75 per hour). Students have six months to make up any hours missed, otherwise the course is forfeited.
Eligibility & Appeals
Eligibility: Students must be at least 18 years of age.
Appeals: Students who choose to appeal their certification score may do so in writing to info@vivapilatesstudios.com.au within 30 days of their exam scores being issued. All appeals will be attended to within 60 days of receipt.
